Nine ten

I have never been in jury duty, but i have heard stories. In this story, noone is happy to be there. They all complain about being there, and their own personal issues. At one point, a jurer is trying to teach another one dance moves. They were obviously bored. In my opinion, it was a boring story, and there wasnt much to like about it.

I think that the Story "diner for one" was kind of odd. The butler gets drunk, and the old woman suffers from old age and lonliness( and possibly schitzofrenia) in this strange comedy. sheer goofeyness and repitition gives this peice a british humor feel. one apparently significant line within the play is "Same procedure as every year". i feel there are two interpretations. one is the old woman has schitzofrenia, and the butler is "the guests", or, the old woman is lonley, and she wants to get the butler drunk so he takes he "up stairs". those are my interpretations.

The Big Black Good Man

Alot of people would look at this and see racism. am i wrong? I see a situation thant doesnt matter what color the "assailant" is. I dont care if hes white, black, brown, gold, orange, blue, purple... anyone thats " too big" would be scary. Especially if they put their hands around ones neck. If the man had been asian, he would have said "big asian good man".It doesnt matter. He himself said he wasnt racist. It was all based on circumstance.

This story seems like a common occurence, with or without the involvement of children. It is one thing to protect the ones that you love, but this man clearly crosses the line to being a bully. The other man, would instinctually stand up for his children, but being the man he was, this situation was foreign to him. His wife was counting on him, almost anticipating on a fight, and his children near by, as well as his own pride within him, made him nervous for fear of embarassment and shame if he had lost the fight. But using the logical resoning that moulded his character, he escaped form this near inner disaster.
